As synagogues prepare for fall holidays that bring their biggest crowds of the year, a new analysis found that Jewish institutions spent more than $1 billion on security last year in the United States, up 33 percent from the year before.
The Jewish Federations of North America, which did the analysis, said security spending at Jewish synagogues, schools, camps and other institutions was $765 million in 2024.
