Federations Applaud House Committee on advancing Pray Safe Act

Jewish Federations of North America applauds the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure for advancing the bipartisan Pray Safe Act at a time when threats to Jewish institutions, houses of worship, and faith communities are at an all-time high.

As Jewish institutions and faith communities across the country face persistent security threats, the bill would establish a Department of Homeland Security clearinghouse to help faith-based organizations and nonprofits access federal security resources, best practices, and recommendations. This centralized resource would support Jewish communal organizations, faith leaders, religious institutions, and other nonprofits as they work to strengthen security and protect the people they serve.

We thank the bipartisan leaders and committee members who advanced the legislation and urge the full Congress to pass the Pray Safe Act without delay. At a time when communities are facing unprecedented threats, Congress must act now to ensure that every person can safely gather, worship, celebrate Jewish life, and participate in the religious and communal life of their faith community.
